Moments from the PCC Family Vacation

I came so they can have real and eternal life, more and better life than they ever dreamed of. John 10:10 (The Message) I am still reflecting, with a smile on my face, on our weekend together at our PCC Family Vacation at Mission Springs. What are your favorite memories? What stands out to me are the "moments." Moments like:

  • Laughing Friday night till my gut hurt during the opening video.

  • Watching Tony shake the "junk out of his trunk" in Minute to Win It

  • Roasting s'mores and enjoying the starlit night interacting with people

  • Our small group sessions: the depth, the tears, the affirmation and the authenticity (Shout out to Roma!)

  • Hearing the"roar" of singing during our worship times together

  • Listening, with such deep respect and high regard, to our staff effectively and creatively communicate around our seven values

  • Watching kids scooter, bike and play on the lawn with a purity and naivete that is rare back home

  • Frontier Ranch --the hike, the smell of grass, the relay grames, the face-plant in the grass during the three-legged race, the conversations and the laughter

  • Family Feud on Saturday night

  • Meals

  • Communion together

  • Praying with people, being prayed for

Maybe weekends like this are so significant because we have drifted so far with the pace of life. Maybe our problem is that we don't hav enough "moments," or maybe we are travelling too fast to stop and savor them. Maybe we were created to have the priorities we maintained this weekend not just on a retreat once a year, but also with our lives every day.

Last weekend was quite a gift from God. Let's never take for granted that God has set PCC apart as a body to abide (John 15:7) and to abound (John 15:8). Want a six-minute recap of the weekend? Click here.

This weekend we return to the PCC Worship Center and our study of Habakkuk: When God Doesn't Seem Fair. We will be commissioning 100-plus teenagers and leaders heading to Mexico as well. Get ready for more "moments!"

I Love Being Your Pastor!
