A Christmas List

Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord.  Luke 2:11
Since Starbucks has brought out their Christmas cups, I thought I would get in the Christmas spirit myself. Below are 12 ways to make this Christmas holiday both memorable and eternally significant. I’ll call this list the 12 Ways of Christmas!
  1. Mark the season using the PCC Advent Devotional and Advent Wreath that corresponds with our The Wonder of Christmas series.
  2. Invite your friends, neighbors and family to our Christmas Celebrations. We will be hosting Tim Zimmerman and the King’s Brass on December 11 and will have three Christmas Eve Celebrations that will be tremendous experiences. (4:00pm, 6:00pm, 9:00pm)
  3. Host a Christmas Gathering in your home with friends and neighbors.  To gain a vision and tools for this go here.
  4. Be on the lookout in your neighborhood for ways to serve your neighbors.  Our neighbor recently lost her husband and this will be her first Christmas alone.  Think there are ways the Gaddini’s can serve her in this tough season?  Does a neighbor need you to take them shopping, need lights hung, a Christmas tree? Allow God to prompt you in this area.
  5. Feed the hungry by joining our Street Church outreach. We are on the streets three nights a week.  What if Jesus really meant it in Matthew 25 that when we serve the poor we are really serving Him?  Go here for more details.
  6. Participate in our Kennedy Christmas Store Outreach to provide Christmas for the poor at Kennedy Middle School.  You will hear all about this in the coming weeks.
  7. Plan on joining us for our Thanksgiving Outreach.  We are in our tenth year of feasting with our community on Thanksgiving Day.  It is from 11:30am-2:00pm on Thanksgiving Day and a wonderful kickoff to the Christmas Season.
  8. Provide care packages for people in our armed forces who are serving overseas. You can connect through our Reveille Ministry and learn more about how to do this. Click here
  9. Schedule a Care Group, family or roommate movie night and watch one of the Christmas Classics or watch The Nativity Movie
  10. Visit a nursing home with your family or Care Group and sing Christmas Carols to the residents while handing out candy canes.
  11. Make Sunday Worship Gatherings a priority as we focus on the theme of Wonder.
  12. Send out Christmas Cards that are Jesus-centered.
You can probably create a better, more tailored list for you and your family.  But I don’t want you to miss it this Christmas, and regress to the cultural commercialism of the season.
This Sunday, we will pick right back up in Luke looking at Luke 11:37-54.  Have you ever wondered what Jesus thinks of religion?  Come this Sunday and find out!  I will see you there.

I love being your pastor!
