Fight for Unity

“I do not ask for these only, but also for those who will believe in me through their word, that they may all be one, just as you, Father, are in me, and I in you, that they also may be in us, so that the world may believe that you have sent me.”   John 17:20-21

Important weekend reminder: This Sunday you have three worship options with PCC.  8:55am-Traditions Gathering, 10:00am-join us at our All Church Retreat at Mission Springs for our Sunday Morning Worship Service, or 5:00pm Sunday Night Worship Gathering featuring Matt Nightingale leading worship.

Unity matters to God more than we will ever know.  It matters because our unity reflects the nature of the Trinity (three in one) and it matters because our unity is a compelling apologetic for an observing world.  How important is unity to you?  How is that reflected in your attitudes, prayers and actions?

I have witnessed a groundswell movement unifying followers of Jesus on the Peninsula unlike anything I have witnessed in my 17 years of living here and I am honored that PCC is playing a part in this growing movement.  I want you to know about an upcoming event on May 10, and invite you to join the movement.

Some of you may have heard about, or attended, the Transforming the Bay with Christ (TBC) meeting in January at VMWare headquarters in Palo Alto.  At that gathering, about 150 Bay Area church, ministry, and business leaders gathered to learn more about how we can work together more intentionally for God’s Kingdom in the Bay Area.  Leaders from San Francisco to Oakland to San Jose to Fremont were represented at the earlier gathering, but we now want to extend the invitation to many more ministry leaders.

TBC is about and only about three things: followers of and influencers for Jesus in a spirit of unity, partnering our resources to engage in prayerful relationships, and service to communities and planting churches everywhere.

This is not a conference, or a training, or a program, or a promotion.  It is the gathering of a broad cross-section of local Christ-followers to discover what God is already doing in the Bay Area, and how we can join together in that work in ways that complement, rather than compete with, one another.

Please consider attending the upcoming meeting if your schedule allows.

Time:  Saturday, May 10, 9am-Noon

Location: Peninsula Covenant Church, 3560 Farm Hill Blvd, Redwood City

Breakfast will be provided—come for great food!  Meet other pastors and ministry leaders from around the Bay Area. Hear initial dreams and ideas for how God’s people could see a greater impact throughout the region.  Help shape what future collaboration could look like in areas of evangelism, education, homelessness, and other needs.

You are invited, but you must RSVP to admin@ttbawc.org.  Please do so by this weekend if you plan on attending.

Fight for unity, PCC!

I love being your pastor!
