A Pastor's Prayer

After walking through the text of Ephesians 3:14-21 on Sunday, this week I found myself letting that text drive my prayer life.  How rich indeed.  Here is an adaption of the text, put in prayer form for all of us:

A Pastor’s Prayer for PCC (Adapted from Ephesians 3:14-21)

Because of all that Christ has done reconciling us to Himself and to each other, I kneel before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth derives its name.  I pray that in light of and in proportion to His infinite glorious riches, He may strengthen us with power through His Spirit in our inner beings, so that Christ may both feel at home in and be welcomed in our hearts through faith. And I pray that we, being rooted and established in God’s unconditional love, may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the unconditional love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge (THIS love only comes through divine revelation)—that we may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God. (That we would be continually growing to look, think and act like Jesus.) Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us, may He be glorified through the ministry of PCC and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.

This Sunday we close our We Are PCC Series with one of my favorite missionaries, Dr. Jim Gufstason.  Jim is a gifted communicator and tremendous missionary statesman.  I look forward to sitting under his teaching and then spilling out into a Mission Fair, seeing our entire local and global mission on display.
