Give Thanks to the Lord

Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; his love endures forever. 1 Chronicles 16:34
I have so much to report that is a bit random and have been trying to think of how they tie together, but I can’t so please forgive the randomness of this Gmail.  Let’s just pause and give thanks, OK? We have much to be thankful for as a body, but three things come to mind:
  • Thanksgiving Outreach:  It started 10 years ago under the vision of Tony Gapastione. We only needed to cook 3 turkeys then.  This year, we cooked 32 Turkeys and fed well over 500 people on Thanksgiving Day.  The spirit of the day and ethos on the campus was wonderful.  Thanks for all who gave, served and prayed.  And thank you, Lord for entrusting us with the honor of serving so many people.
  • Internal Pastoral Staff Transitions: We have such a gifted staff team that we all can be thankful for. At the last Council meeting, the Council unanimously approved presenting the following pastors of PCC to the congregation to serve in new capacities at PCC.
    • Dain Jepson: From Pastor to Families to Pastor of Organizational Development
    • Carlos DeVitis: From Pastor of Student Ministries to Pastor of Family Ministries
    • Tabatha Mason: From Interim Worship Pastor to Worship Pastor
You will find packets on all three pastors in the back of the Worship Center this Sunday and are invited to informational meetings with them on December 9 where you can ask questions and interact with them. We will meet right after the 10:30am gathering in Room 20.

All three of these people are called, gifted and have stepped up big time this past six months. We can give thanks for His provision for PCC at this time.
  • Favor with Officer Oney:  This one is personal! In November, Anne and I let you into our adoption journey and asked you to pray for favor with Officer Oney and Homeland Security. We learned yesterday that our I600 application was approved!  Our final leg of this journey now moves to Kinshasa where the US State Department will investigate Joella’s case and issue a Visa for her to come home to Redwood City.  Please thank God for the favor we were given and pray for the final step of this journey to be approved.  Want to meet Joella?  Click here: Meet Joella
This Sunday, we kick off the Advent Season, my favorite time of year at PCC.  This year we want to rediscover the Wonder of Christmas.  This Sunday, we will look at the Wonder of Prophecy and How God keeps His Promises.  You can see the whole Christmas Season Prospectus here

I look forward to being with you on Sunday.

I love being your pastor!
