Potent Truths

God sent him to buy freedom for us who were slaves to the law, so that he could adopt us as his very own children. And because we are his children, God has sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, prompting us to call out, “Abba, Father.”  Galatians 4:5-6

It's good to be adopted, isn’t it?  To have Jesus as our big brother and God as our "Abba."  What a rich day we experienced on Sunday – thanks for making experiences like that happen.  I have loved my readings in "The Search for Significance Workbook" this week.  I encourage us all to allow God to, in this season ground us in who we really are! When we know who we are – we will know what to do.
To that end I share with you some of the potent truths I mined from my readings in the workbook this week:
  • The more we understand God’s Word and live by it, the more our feelings will reflect His character and love.
  • It often seems that unsuspecting believers are the last to know that a battle is occurring and that Christ in the end has won the war.  They are confused and surprised by difficulties. They think the Christian life is a playground, not a battlefield.
  • As Christians, our fulfillment in this life depends not on how skillfully we avoid life’s problems but on how skillfully we apply God’s specific solutions to those problems.
  • True self-worth is God’s love and acceptance, which are unchanging. He created us. He alone knows how to fulfill our needs.
  • Realizing our worth does not depend on meeting some condition, will free us from the fears of failure and rejection and will give us joy, thankfulness and a desire to honor the One who loves us so much.
  • We do not have to succeed or please others to have a healthy sense of self-worth. God has freely given us our true worth.
What rich truths!  I do hope to see you this Saturday at our Beautiful Day experience.  If you need more information, click here.
Sunday we explore the next truth in our ID series- “I am an Overcomer.”

I love being your pastor!
